UK Trio Sports Almanac Share Double Single “Breathe In / Don’t You Wanna See”

Sussex trio Sports Almanac share their midwest emo inspired double single

Hailing from the Sussex coast is alternative trio Sports Almanac. Honing their skills as musicians and songwriters for the past 10 years, the three friends formed the group back in 2019 and have added to their small, but growing discography. Inspired by the likes of Death Cab For Cutie, Modern Baseball, and The 1975, their British roots seem to disappear, as more midwest emo influences take over on their latest double single “Breathe In / Don’t You Wanna See (Bright Lights In The City)”.

Opening with the 2020-inspired tune “Breathe In”, the trio play with emo-folk stylings before cruising into a glowing alt-rock finish as they sing about missing close friends and family during the first lockdown, masked by the metaphor of a fleeting summer romance.

Switching gears into more effect-laden vocals, in tune with The 1975, and atmospheric shoegaze guitar distortion, Sports Almanac double-down on their American influences by commentating on the division of class and hyper-consumerism of the U.S.

Their modern blend of alt-pop, folk, shoegaze, and emo create a familiar wall of sound while pushing the alternative genre into a new direction. Hoping to ignite a busy year of more releases, you can get started by listening to the two tracks below:
