SAN HOLO & Bipolar Sunshine Get Creative In New Video For “find your way”
Beat tastemaker San Holo previously released his single “find your way” featuring L.A.-based vocalist Bipolar Sunshine a few weeks back, and as the May 21st release date for his upcoming album bb u ok? moves closer, San Holo has shared its unique and nostalgia-inspired music video.
Directed by award-winning Auckland-based duo THUNDERLIPS, the accompanying visuals are rooted in the days of VHS tapes and ’80s tube TVs, creating a dreamlike aesthetic through camera tricks and washed colour palettes.
About the video, San Holo shares, “What really drew me to THUNDERLIPS’s vision is how they were able to creatively pull off a performance video even though Bipolar Sunshine and I are on opposite sides of the planet. I love the museum-like feel of the video with all of the unique and dynamic shots. Hope you enjoy this little trip!”
With San based in Amsterdam, Bipolar Sunshine in LA and THUNDERLIPS in New Zealand the video is cleverly pieced together across three continents.
“’Definitely not a lockdown video’ lockdown video shot in a stiflingly hot warehouse in New Zealand and remotely in the US and The Netherlands – a collaboration between people from three continents to create a visual skewing of perception to accompany Find Your Way. Probably one of the most challenging videos we’ve embarked upon, brimming over with technical, practical and creative hurdles that through blind luck, the kindness of strangers and obscure YouTube tutorials were ultimately vanquished, leaving us with what we think is a pretty sweet music video”.
The song’s dreamlike production and inspiring cadence adds to the surreal aesthetic of the music video, being both easy on the ears and eyes.
