Jason Collett Celebrates A Milestone With Upcoming ‘Best of’ LP; Shares New Track “Crab Walking Home In The Rain”

A twenty-year veteran of the music industry, Jason Collett is celebrating the milestone with a new song, a new video and the announcement of a new LP due out March 19th. An album that spans his career, Best of features 13 previously released tracks, with the new single “Crab Walking Home in the Rain” spearheading the collection.

The track marks Collett’s first new recording in five years, and was arranged and produced by indie-folk artist Andy Shauf, marking his first production for another artist. Straying through to his signature sound, “Crab Walking Home in the Rain” is the ideal combination of easy listening and storytelling. The catchy guitar melody is accentuated by piano and clarinet pieces, giving the tune a fun groove that would make an actual walk home in the rain a fun experience. Through the lyrics, Collett looks to remind listeners of “old haunts and landmarks that once were and are no longer,” ultimately ‘conjuring good memories of good times,”

The illustrative music video that pairs with the single brings viewers everywhere except where you might expect for a song centering on a crab. City streets, outer space – but no ocean. Carrying the storytelling element of Collet’s lyrics, the video does perfectly hone in on the wandering search for home the song describes – whether a physical place to call home, or that person who makes you feel at home everywhere.

“I’ve been a fan of Jason Collett for a long time so when he asked me to work on a song of his, I was really excited,” shares Shauf, continuing to share that “when [Collett] explained that his idea was for me to produce the instrumental on my own for him to sing on, I was even more excited”. The excitement is well warranted, with the resulting single blending their efforts seamlessly into one stand-out track.
