Half Moon Run Share Tour Montage Video With New Single “How Come My Body”
JUNO-award winning act Half Moon Run have officially announced they will be releasing a new collection of music later this year. The Montreal veterans have spent the last decade or so creatively intertwining the emotional qualities of folk, indie rock, slowcore, and more into their spirited arrangements, and they continue the tradition with their latest single “How Come My Body”.
While it is new to fans in 2021, the song was originally penned back in 2010, when the band was in its early stages and multi-instrumentalist Connor Molander was figuring himself out: “I remember feeling confused and uncomfortable as a 20 year old, and I find myself feeling sympathy for that younger version of myself now”, he reflects.
Adding to the sincerity of the song, he continues, “I also feel sympathy and concern for people living through that metamorphosis between adolescence and adulthood in the modern world – perhaps some of you reading this now find yourselves in such a situation. Or perhaps some of you can think of loved ones that fit the description. Or maybe, like me, you can remember the days when you were struggling to come into your own. Well, we’d like to dedicate this song to all those people – wherever you may be.”
For the accompanying visuals directed by Sacha Roy, the delicate guitar strumming and vocals contrast with the black and white quick cuts of tour footage, embodying the emotional setback that COVID has brought on for a band that has thrived on stage.
