Cat Clyde & Jeremie Albino Share Folk-Blues Track “Been Worryin'”
“Been Worryin'”, written and recorded by Canadian singer-songwriting duo Cat Clyde and Jeremie Albino, is the first glimpse into the pair’s upcoming collaborative release. Having met in 2018, they formed an instant bond upon discovering their uncannily similar taste in music. Since then, they’ve had a nagging idea to collaborate, eventually coming together to record “Been Worryin'”
‘Old-timey’ might be the most fitting way to describe the song. Perfectly simplistic, Albino and Clyde’s crooning vocals are at the forefront with strummed backing. The track is filled with a nostalgic vibe that complements their bluesy-folk style. Their lyrics tell the story of working hard, worrying about the future, and continuing forward in spite of it all.
The storytelling in their music brings to mind artists like James Taylor or Johnny Cash, though the pair have their own special something that gives the track its own special feeling. Albino shares that the song was an original he was working on as a solo project, which he then took to Clyde to see if she would be interested in partnering on it. “She loved the tune, and helped with some really great lyrics before we hit the studio,” he shares. “The final version ended up being really close to the original demo which to me always means – there’s some kinda magic in [the] song.”
The music video matches the nostalgic feeling of the song, flashing scenes that could be off a childhood home video; glimpses of shared smiles, moments on a dock by the lake and the staple shaky footage so characteristic of home videos. There’s an undeniable call to days gone by with this song, and it’s a perfect soundtrack for a morning coffee and easy morning.
While the pair collaborate together beautifully, they’ve also garnered success as individual artists. Their upcoming release, Blue Blue Blue, will be released May 21st and has been in the making since the two crossed paths and hit it off back in 2018. The idea for a joint album was born in 2019, but solo projects and touring kept them from completing a full collection. The pandemic allowed them to pause and focus both on their individual efforts and the collaboration they’ve talked about for years. The album will feature 7 covers from some of their favourite artists, ‘Been Worryin’ and one additional original.
