Vancouver Breakout Act daysormay Share Self-Produced Music Video For “The Trend”
Vancouver-based trio daysormay have been releasing a steady stream of attention-grabbing indie pop tunes over the last year or so. Composed of three lifelong friends singer Aidan Andrews and twin brothers / rhythm section Carson and Nolan Basset, the band have once again added to their self-starter discography with the new single and video “The Trend”.
Produced by frequent collaborator fbnki and shot entirely on an iPhone 11, the new music video uses various landscapes from Vancouver as a backdrop for the psychedelic visual.
Embracing their DIY spirit and strong work ethic, both the song and video capture the dissonance from being on the road touring and being at home. “The Trend” came to be after the group returned from touring across the U.S.
“The Trend came together pretty quickly compared to a lot of other songs. I usually write my best immediately after doing something big or being away from home for a long time,” says lead vocalist, Aidan Andrews. “One of my favourite things about touring is the contrast between the loudness/chaos of the shows, and the stillness of getting home, I tend to find a lot of good ideas in that in-between period. I started to mess around with this crazy guitar sound over top of a piano sample that Carson and I had found earlier in the year. We worked on it until we were convinced that it had to be reinvented in some way to get where we wanted it.”
Produced by Steve Bays, the new song brings out the group’s desire for creating a well-shaped sonic experience, building together complementing layers of guitar, percussion, and vocals.
