Manchester Orchestra Tug At Heartstrings With One-Shot Music Video For “Telepath”

With their new album dropping tomorrow, Manchester Orchestra have shared another track off upcoming release The Million Masks of God. The third single, “Telepath,” is the final track to be shared off the upcoming movie-album.

About the new single, Guitarist and singer Andy Hull shares, “’Telepath’ is ultimately about the ebb and flow of life long commitment to another person [and] recognizing that even the best relationship in our lives can have extreme ups and downs.” This single is softer in its arrangement than the previously shared tracks “Bedhead” and “Keel Timing,” giving listeners an idea of the range the upcoming album will feature. Focusing on the lyrics and driven by fingerpicked acoustics, the track highlights the message in the music, and how in Hull’s words “it’s those that we have chosen to love and, more importantly, those that have chosen to love us that truly matter.”

“Telepath” is released alongside a music video directed by Isaac Deitz and Hull. Filmed in one continuous shot, the video depicts the stages and inner workings of a relationship throughout the years. The dancers bring the character’s love story to life from the beginning through to their golden years within the same four walls of an apartment, until everything eventually comes full circle at the close of the video. With a candid approach to everyday life and love, the music video complements the song’s lyrics effortlessly and tugs at the heartstrings. The characters and life depicted may be fictional, but the vulnerability and emotion of the storyline leaves an impression through its illustration of an everyday, familiar life story.

The Million Masks of God is the band’s sixth album, and will be released in an interactive countdown beginning Thursday, April 29th at 12:00 pm EDT through the band’s YouTube channel. The album – written as a long form narrative and meant to be listened to chronologically in one sitting – tells the story of one man’s life and encounter with the angel of death.
