Shady Nasty Get Weird With Counter-Culture Video For “IBIZA”
Sydney-based “weirdo punks” Shady Nasty are sharing their first new music since last year’s acclaimed Bad Posture. Colliding trippy, spoken-word hip-hop verses with angry, noise-rock rooted instrumentation, “IBIZA” is a mash-up of chaos and apathy, cooly directed by vocalist Kevin Stathis’ nonchalant delivery. Mixed by Grammy-award winning Dave Schiffman, the track’s scattered punk details come to life as they tear into the superficial culture of 2021.
The band explains that “”IBIZA“ sits at the lavish intersection between vlogging, gymming, clubbing and clout. From binge-watching Mike Thurston & Jake Paul on Youtube to blasting Guetta & Avicii in the Uber; from rounds of vodka raspberries at the Ivy to luxury shopping sprees at Westfield; “IBIZA“ is a menacing ode to the extravagant sounds, aesthetics and cultures that are typically rejected by counterculture.“
The accompanying music video adds to the unique aesthetic of the track, with virtual reality-like cuts and augmentation through luxury hot spots. Watch below:
