The Urban Renewal Project Team Up With Vic Mensa For Manga-Inspired Track “Will To Survive”

Boasting a sixteen person line-up, The Urban Renewal Project is a hip-hop collective combining elements of jazz, soul, R&B, and more into their stage-crowding live performances and recordings. Set to release a 20-page manga Pᴏssᴇ Cᴏᴍɪᴛᴀᴛᴠs on June 12th, the group’s new single “Will To Survive” featuring Vic Mensa will be apart of the limited Record Store Day release.

The 7″ and manga chronicle the adventures of a young recruit from North Africa in the Roman Legion. Inspired heavily by the past year, and illustrated by the team at Saturday AM, Pᴏssᴇ Cᴏᴍɪᴛᴀᴛᴠs is an interesting twist on the Record Store Day tradition. Bandleader R.W. Enoch shares, “We drew a lot of inspiration from the fact that we’ve been in survival mode for the past year, just trying to make it through everything in one piece, and that sentiment tied together really nicely with the themes I found myself exploring with these historical military instruments”.

Incorporating period instruments from the ancient Mediterranean,”Will To Survive” is a captivating new release that effortlessly melts together genres and styles, accentuated by Mensa’s strong delivery and presence.
