Neo-Soul Artist Asha Jane Shares Self-Love Ballad “Proud”

Cardiff-based neo-soul artist Asha Jane has shared her self-affirming ballad “Proud”. Inspired by Pride month and her new perspective on self-acceptance, the track weaves together themes of self-identity, sexuality, and the joy of music.

“Growing up I often felt pushed into performing live or was entered into singing contests. It was all about competing and needing to be the best, rather than the pure enjoyment of singing and performing. I’ve learned that each performance doesn’t have to be perfect, as long as I have fun. That personal growth is my biggest achievement” explains Asha.

Leaving behind the superficiality of love and music, “Proud” is a mantra for Asha: “’Proud’ ties into a lot of different things for me, it’s about being proud of my journey towards self-acceptance, being confident in my own skin and realising my own sexuality. Mostly I wanted to uplift myself and others; I especially love the line “I achieve me on the daily” because I’m proud to be my authentic self every damn day!”

Combining chill, bedroom-R&B beats with Asha’s soaring vocals, “Proud” is an engaging and positivity-filled sophomore release from the multi-disciplinary artist, model, and actress.
