Post-Hardcore Act Roman Lions Deal With Their Inner Demons On New Single “Negative”
Built up of Baltimore-born brothers Justin and Matt Tracy and rounded out by members of A Perfect Kiss, I Am Empire, and Octaves, San Jose-based post-hardcore act Roman Lions have shared their new single “Negative”. Set to be a component of an upcoming project, the new single and music video is a striking and melodic piece about dealing with inner demons and emotions.
“‘Negative’ is about the realization that coming to terms with your own thoughts and emotions is a difficult process”, explains vocalist Justin Tracy. “Sometimes it’s easier to be distant and cold. It can mitigate suffering and make our sorrows more bearable. “It’s a song about confronting the darker side of introspection. About embracing those darker feelings in an attempt to regulate your emotional state and become something less chaotic. In the end, realizing that there is a price to pay for using negativity as the catalyst for self discovery”.
Fans of early ’00 era post-hardcore bands such as At The Drive In, Refused, and Means will find solace in the subtle melodies and relentless vocals on “Revenge”, as Roman Lions bring in more cinematic elements of post-rock and the pile-driving percussion to round-out the song’s intensity.
