Villagers Share Compassionate New Video For “So Simpatico” Ahead Of Upcoming LP & Tour

Following the release of their stunning lead single “The First Day”, Irish indie rock act Villagers have shared the second single from their upcoming full-length “So Simpatico”. The brainchild of Conor O’Brien, Villagers are set to release Fever Dreams on August 20th, and the new addition is a compelling and compassionate continuation of sorts from the previous release.

With an overcast of dreamy, twinkling glockenspiel and O’Briens warm, intimate vocals, “So Simpatico” slowly transforms into a stunning and mesmerizing opus, bringing in string arrangements and saxophone to round out the full band experience with a Beatles-esque demeanour.

About the song, O’Brien shares: “It’s a song of devotion; whether to a person, the self, or the art of being, a struggle for authenticity is at its core. We all jammed and recorded an early version with too many words and I took it home and simplified it until it was as pure an expression as possible. It’s a pop song about the essence of love.”

Expanding the narrative, the accompanying music video acts as a short film for the triumphant 7-minute track, telling the tale of a clown with a lost soul. Director Rosie Barrett adds about the video: “So Simpatico is a journey of awakening and self-reflection of a sad clown finding love within himself and sparking that zest for life that was lost some time ago. Creating a visual narrative for this beautiful song was a joy as I have been long admiring Conor’s music. I had the pleasure of working with a brilliant cast and crew in the making and I am very excited to see this video out in the world.”
