Denver Indie Alt-Pop Artist Sam Pine Shares New Single “Why Can’t U” From Debut LP ‘Evergreen’ Out Now

For 22 year old producer/multi-instrumentalist Sam Pine, the onset of the pandemic meant he had to ditch his blooming life in Los Angeles to relocate to his hometown of Denver, Colorado. The unexpected change put a strain on relationships, naturally, and Pine relied on music as an outlet, leading him to his debut album Evergreen, out now. From the release and the new found situation, Pine has shared “Why Can’t U”, the groovy alt-pop hit that looks at the struggles of long-distance relationships.

“I had relationships that felt very tested and at some points exposed. This pandemic really had some harsh truth and the hook of the song asks whoever listens or at least in my perspective the girl I was seeing ‘why cant you be the one for me?’ It’s that classic long distance narrative but with my own spin“, Sam shares. Despite its frustrated tone, the track is a lively and upbeat jazz-infused tune with a driving funk bass line fronted by his soft, bedroom vocals.
