The Joy Formidable Celebrate New Album With Latest Music Video “Sevier”
Welsh alternative trio The Joy Formidable return with their seventh studio album Into The Blue today. Written and recorded in their new home of Utah, the album is a throwback-worthy collection, filled with ’90s grunge and shoegaze-tinged alternative rock. Naturally, the band have stayed fairly consistent throughout their discography, and Into The Blue following suit once more, but on their latest single “Sevier”, there’s a rawness to it that draws fans back to the band’s 2011 era with its searing guitar effects and hypnotic pull.
About the new song and video, vocalist/guitarist Ritzy Bryan says, “The river Sevier runs 385 miles through Utah – close to where I live. It’s a metaphor for love & it’s journey. Are you staying in it, following it through all the seasons, cutting through mountains and canyons through all the hardships, or cutting (severing) loose? We loved the idea of water being a main element in the performance video; the churn of the waves against the calm of still water“.
Featuring Bryan herself wading through the Sevier river while playing guitar, the song’s high-contrasted footage and dated style give a nostalgic and captivating feel that matches the energy of the revolving riff.
