Los Angeles Rock Act Kills Birds Dominate With New Single “Glisten”; Announce Tour Alongside Foo Fighters
From their forthcoming album Married, out November 12th, Los Angeles-based rock act Kills Birds have shared the fire-starting single “Glisten”. Serving as the second offering from their sophomore release, the song is a grunge-fuelled piece about falling for the wrong people. With their gripping guitar riffs and pummelling rock energy, Kills Birds create a brick wall of sound that mirrors the intense emotions brought on from betrayal and deceit.
Vocalist Nina Ljeti explains, “This song is about loving the wrong people. It was written after I experienced a profound betrayal, at the hands of a person who was unable to take accountability for their actions. The lyrics in the chorus (why don’t you love me) are directed at the person in question. In retrospect, they’re also questions I need to ask myself.”
Guitarist Jacob Loeb adds, “Glisten was written to kind of feel like water. The chorusing, arpeggiating guitar melodies and the rolling, steadily intensifying rhythm section throughout the verse are meant to kind of create a sensation of floating in a river—like being gently lead by a force of nature that lures you somewhere turbulent and dangerous—the chorus with its angular, sharp and aggressive instrumentation.”
Recorded at Dave Grohl’s Studio 606 by invitation, the upcoming album will be released on Royal Mountain Records and KRO Records, and serves as a milestone before heading off on tour with the Foo Fighters in later this year and 2022, as well as a series of dates with Sleigh Bells.
