Brooklyn Alt-Pop Group Juice Share Robot Chess Music Video For New Single “Girlfriend Song”

Brooklyn-via-Boston alt-pop group Juice have shared their new single “Girlfriend Song”, the second chapter in their “Boy Story: Crisis in Parallel” visual series. Blending together comedy, horror, and alien robots, the follow up to “Superimposed” brings out their melodic and pop-forward energy as a game of chess makes a band practice takes a strange turn.

About the video, director Daniel Moss shares, “We wanted the satirical and comedic nature of the track to drive the video. We’d been watching tons of ‘Scooby Doo’ and wanted the video to exist in that space between humor and horror.  While entirely unrelated to the lyrical content of the track, a voodoo doll chess game controlled by alien robots just seemed to capture the energy of the song perfectly.”

Their fun-loving, upbeat personality comes through on the new single, as they bring boyband pop melodies together with alt-rock energy in line with acts such as Walk The Moon and Grouplove. Guitarist Daniel Moss adds, “We started out with a simple guitar line that the instrumental of the song naturally came together around. It had a sort of unhinged irony present in every aspect of the track from its conception. Lyrically, the story of a manic character spiralling emotionally just felt fitting for the sonic landscape we’d created.”
