Indie Pop Artist Jaz Paterson Makes A Life Changing Decision On Sophomore Single “Ache”
After almost marrying her ex-boyfriend, Christchurch-based alternative pop artist Jaz Paterson felt a combination of relief and pain from the experience. “The engagement ring was in the mail”, details Jaz. “We had a wedding savings account and I had my bridesmaids all picked out in my mind. ache is about me realizing how close we got to spending our whole lives together. It’s about the relief of the relationship breaking up while still having an an ache, a bruise left from the toll of it ending”.
Mirroring the bittersweet result of her life-altering decision, Jaz’ sophomore single “ache” combines upbeat indie pop production with the melancholic emotion of a break-up. Drawing influence from the likes of Banks, Tove Lo, and James Blake, “ache”‘s moody delivery is both candid and transfixing, as the emerging singer-songwriter allows herself to be an open book.
Listen to “Ache” below and stay tuned for more music from Jaz’ upcoming debut EP of the same name, out November 19th.
