Seth Glier Dives Into the Deep End For New Music Video “Somebody Break My Heart”

From his recent album The Coronation, Grammy-nomiated artist Seth Glier has shared the new single and music video for “Somebody Break My Heart”. Written about the healing powers of water through his own experience with the waters of Key West, Florida, the song captures the dreamy qualities of being beneath the surface with its warm elegance and creative sampling.

The song features instruments like the Plethora (waterphone), samples of water, and crushed sand that tie in with the song’s theme, while the mesmerizing visuals follow a graceful aquatic dancer through the deep oceans and above magnificent reefs for a most calming, lucid experience. Adding to the captivating listening experience is Glier’s stunning vocal performance, finding a calming yet profound quality in his voice. The steady, orchestral arrangements contribute to the emotive power of the song.

Having toured 250 dates a year for half his life, Glier’s return to stillness mirrors that of the deep water; a shock to the system yet hidden from the overstimulation of the world. For The Coronation, Glier wanted to explore the interconnectedness that came from 2020’s lockdown. “For most of my adult life, I’ve held the belief that humanity is right around the corner from something transformative,” Seth explains. “If we could only see that our separateness is an illusion, then a future of global cooperation and interdependence would be undeniable. As the coronavirus locked down the world, I watched this long-held belief inside of me becoming a reality right before my eyes. The dolphins returned to the Venice canals, and millions of children saw the stars for the first time. I wanted this album to feel like a roadmap towards reunion in a reconnected and repairing world.”
