UK Indie Act Clean Cut Kid Make Space For Grief On Powerful New Single “Lewis, Be Brave”
On their new single “Lewis, Be Brave”, indie folk rock act Clean Cut Kid become the support system for a friend who is grieving the lost of his mother. Both the immense sadness and the empathy involved collide, morphing into a ray sunshine on the new track, lifted from their forthcoming record Hiss, out in 2022 via Alcopop! Records. More than a simple pat on the back and a “there, there”, the new single accepts the pain involved in loss and keeps a positive understanding for the process and the future through direct lyrics and a rich, intentional DIY folk rock power.
Commenting on the single, frontman Mike Halls says: “A good friend came to stay with us a few days after losing his Mum. I’d never witnessed someone so completely and utterly consumed by grief. His pain was like a force that changed the air in every room he was in. ‘Lewis, Be Brave’ was written simply to tell him, ‘I tried my very best to understand what you were feeling.’”
