Indie Folk Pop Artist Ali Warren Looks Back At His Younger Self On Poignant New Single “Head Over Heart”
On his new single “Head Over Heart”, British indie folk pop singer-songwriter Ali Warren wanted to reflect on how he’s changed as an adult. Packed with emotion and careful self-reflection, the new single is a bittersweet glance at nostalgia and self-growth. About the single, Warren shares, “‘Head Over Heart’ is my way of mourning the loss of my younger self. Of acknowledging the better parts of the person I’ve grown into but missing the less desirable parts of a younger me. I was always pretty angry growing up. I’ve found that as I’ve got older, I’ve learned to curb that anger…and I’m not sure I like that. I’ve found myself weighed down by the gloomy reality and complexity of it all rather than the optimistic, reckless, youthful view that I could, for my part, change the world.“.
While anger and eagerness play a part in the song’s theme and lyrics, Warren’s soft croon and delicate instrumentation become the dominating elements.
