Toronto’s Long Range Hustle Share Nostalgic New Single “Half Speed” From Upcoming LP
Following a successful run of shows to finish off 2021, Toronto-based alternative rock group Long Range Hustle are continuing the momentum with the release of their latest single “Half Speed”, lifted from their forthcoming album I am alive, but only if you say I am, out February 25th.
Known for their commanding arena-sized sound, the five-piece find a compelling middle ground on the new single, as they balance longing nostalgia with an uplifting, heartfelt melody. Opening with the sound of rain and a graceful acoustic guitar, “Half Speed” acknowledges both the pain and beauty of change and getting older.
“Half Speed is a song about sorting through your own memories, whether that be in boxes filled with old pictures, stacks of once-used furniture, or even just in your mind’s eye. Trying to capture that feeling, we went back to my old childhood home to reminisce a little, and created a video with the same aesthetic as a memory,” says the band’s Paul Brogee.
On the new single, Long Range Hustle transform the nostalgic energy into catchy and memorable melodic hooks, rounded out by bright harmonies and anthemic instrumentation.
Continuing about the song’s dynamic, Brogee adds, “I felt like there needed to be a more honest song about mourning in the world. And while grief is painful it is something worth relishing, for the greater tragedy would be to feel nothing at all.”
