Toronto-Based Art Rock Collective Tidal Wave Share New Single “This Cost Of Life”
Following the release of their self-titled debut EP last year, seven-piece art-rock collective Tidal Wave have shared their latest single “This Cost Of Life”. Initially, the Toronto-based band was formed by guitarist and lead vocalist Connor Young; who assembled guitarist Marco Carboni, guitarist and producer Marcus Retterath, drummer and keyboard player Mike Poisson, violinist and vocalist Joey Assaad, violinist Brittany Iwanciwski, and bassist Kyle Texiera.
Cozying up on stage and in the studio, the band create lush and sprawling soundscapes, in line with the likes of Arcade Fire and The Decemberists. On the new single, the band use their orchestral flourishes to build into a shoegaze-inspired wall of sound for a grandiose and heartbreaking release. About the song, the band shares, “The Cost Of Life’ is the pain of a relationship ending, but to truly live you need to experience these lows. It makes the highs oh so much higher and therefore is truly a cost of living your life, one that we must all feel from time to time“.
