half•alive Share First Part of Upcoming Album ‘Give Me Your Shoulders’; Unveil New Single & Video “Move Me”

Long Beach based trio half•alive have released the first part of their new album Give Me Your Shoulders. Featuring four previously unreleased tracks, Give Me Your Shoulders Pt. 1 is shared in tandem with the stunning new single and video “Move Me”.

half•alive partnered with a curated group of artists, directors, actors, animators, and creators, giving each of them the creative freedom to make a 30 second video to the track from their imagination. From there, the band selected a handful of videos and edited them together to create the incredible and unique Move Me music video.

About Give Me Your Shoulders Pt. 1, Josh Taylor from half•alive says: “Give Me Your Shoulders has many layers of intimacy. Physical, emotional, & spiritual.  Shoulders are intimate in nature, close to the heart, a place of strength & tell of vulnerability. A sign of how safe I feel, & how close I’m willing to let you.

I’ve never before explored the topic of love in our songs. This album is unexplored territory in that regard. It’s vulnerable. Exposing my shoulders to whoever will stop & listen. Many of the songs are about the cry for love’s hand around my heart. In one breath it’s about a person & about God.  To ache for the comfort of another. To hide in the corner of their shoulder & know I am safe.

To shoulder is to accept responsibility, to take on one’s burden. To give your heavy. Saying ‘take my yoke upon you & learn from me… and you will find rest for your soul. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light’, as he proceeds to carry the weight of death on his shoulders, bearing it with arms outstretched to save the world.

It is love. To give what you cannot carry. To accept another’s burden without condition. To yoke yourself with the author of Love & find rest for your soul.”
