Brighton Indie Singer-Songwriter Lucy Feliz Shares New Single “Forget Me Nots”
Following her second album, Last of The Sun, Brighton-based Lucy Feliz has shared her latest single “Forget Me Nots”. A relaxed, folk-indie track, “Forget Me Nots” has Feliz painting a picture of a dream-like inner world as a means of processing the more overwhelming moments in life.
She explains: “I often find myself balancing on the fence between active and passive thoughts. And the past couple of years have made me super aware of the small scenes happening in the background that make up the bigger picture; like feeling relieved for the ground when the rain comes, the efficiency of the postman snaking up and down the street, taking time to make time, and not having any real control…”
Calling up images of white picket fences juxtaposed with the turmoil experienced through the song’s interwoven guitar, “Forget Me Nots” is ultimately tied together by a persuasive, persistent pull of drums. The steadiness of the beat that carries throughout the track can easily draw listeners into a more passive, relaxed trance as they listen, bringing back the meaning behind the song. “…The world can change at any moment and we just have to ride it out. As much as I’ve felt ‘controlled’ by systematic rules and changes, it’s been quite freeing being able to dissociate from the seriousness of that, and let go in such a passive way,”says Feliz.
With “Forget Me Nots” available now, Feliz will also begin work on her much-anticipated third album in 2022.
