PREMIERE: Australian Singer-Songwriter Erin Unveils New Single “Still”

Sydney-based singer-songwriter Erin has shared her new single “Still” alongside its dreamy visual counterpart. Lead by her sanguine soprano vocals, the ethereal and warm offering opens with a futuristic lullaby before gradually incorporating cinematic synthesizers, a deep bass line, strings, and choppy percussive tones. Creating a mesmerizing contrast of dark and light tones, “Still” is both meditative and energizing.

Of the song, Erin says the polarising sound was a very organic process where the collaborators, Godriguez & Ken Allars, had total creative freedom. “I gave them a very fragile melody, with no expectation of likeness to anything else or intentional message to convey. Dave (Godriguez) & Ken are both artists that I have a beautiful connection to musically and I simply leave the music in their hands. It’s exciting to see what comes back and rewarding to hear each time that the three of us naturally fulfil a role that the song needs.”

Erin says that while she understands the lyrics speak to her listeners in the language of love, she was really just contemplating the word still, on stillness, and on how if we are not still sometimes, we miss what is in front of us. She believes the essence of her thoughts translate well as a love story, although the meaning runs much deeper for her. The dichotomy of light and dark becomes a major element of the song, as Erin’s voice leads listeners down a mysterious, spiritual path.

The accompanying visuals bring forth the natural, airy qualities of the track with shots of lush greenery and running water.
