PREMIERE: Alt-Pop Artist Skylu Teases Forthcoming EP With ’90s Inspired Single “RED”

South London alt-pop singer-songwriter Skylu has shared her third track of 2022 with the retro-inspired hit “RED”. Lifted from her forthcoming debut EP due this spring, “RED” pays homage to the melancholic and neon-coloured synth-pop days of the ’90s. Produced by Brighton-based artist Lyonheart, the song captures the longing and bittersweet nuances of the decade.

Emotive at its core, “RED” transposes the feelings brought out near the end of a relationship into dreamy synthesizers and vibrant vocals melodies.

Nodding to the coming-of-age, high school romance films, the accompanying video finds the nostalgia in the details. About the video, Skylu explains: “Possibly the most complete song I’ve ever been a part of. We filmed the video in a warehouse with a brilliant young director Louis Lincoln, washing the place in red light.”

To celebrate her upcoming EP, Skylu will be performing at Bar Doña in London on May 5th.
