Saskatchewan Singer-Songwriter Janelle Leaf Finds The Strength To Move On With New Single “Let Go”
Hailing from small town Saskatchewan comes indie singer-songwriter Janelle Leaf. Incorporating the groovy edge of R&B alongside dreamy bedroom vocals, Leaf has released her second solo track “Let Go”. With plenty of studio experience as a session vocalist, Janelle has made the return to her solo discography with the new song.
Written from a friend’s bedroom following a break-up, “Let Go” is a patient and delicate track, built on a foundation of empowerment and personal strength.
“I sat in a friend’s room while they played beats and encouraged me to write out my thoughts”, she beings. “Several emotion-filled pages were written, trying to flesh out all that I was feeling and questioning, and evaluate what had occurred and why. The frustration of being with someone who doled out bite-sized pieces of time and effort, but repeatedly asked for more and more. Ultimately, to relinquish a sacred act in order for them to allegedly pursue the relationship further. The conclusion that we were two people on different paths, with vastly different levels of investment in the relationship, came about”.
Allowing her emotions and thoughts to flow across the track with warm energy, “Let Go” is rounded out by Edmonton-based hip-hop artist K-Riz, helping to direct it into the world of R&B and hip-hop.
