Jazz-Funk Collective Busty and the Bass Share New Single “Merry Go Round” Featuring STS
Montreal jazz-funk collective Busty and the Bass teamed up with Philadelphia/Atlants rapper STS to create their latest release, collaborative single “Merry Go Round.” Alongside the single release came the announcement of the upcoming KARNEVAL EP, coming later this year.
The first single from KARNEVAL, “Merry Go Round” previews the underlying theme of an abandoned fairground that will carry throughout the upcoming larger collection of songs. A soulful, instantly catchy track, “Merry Go Round” features STS rapping lyrics of love and heartbreak over the groovy tracking of the band. The chorus brings in the swooping sounds of horns, percussion and harmonized vocals alongside the slightly ominous lyrics speaking to the never ending spinning of a merry go round and the need to hold on tight as it continues to carry you in circles. Evoking memories of relationships, desire and nostalgia, “Merry Go Round” is an upbeat track, all while carrying a darker undertone and fading into familiar, happy carnival noises at its close.
With their seamless blend of soulful vocals, hip hop, jazz-funk instrumentals and signature brass and synths, KARNEVAL will be the third EP for Busty and the Bass who’ve also released two studio albums.
