Brisbane’s Hazlett Finds The Middle Ground Between Soft & Powerful On “Even If It’s Lonely”
After accessing the industry via opportunities as a ghostwriter and member of multiple rhythm sections, the “self-proclaimed over-thinker” Stockholm resident Hazlett brings a passionate and touching singer-songwriter presentation with his latest single, “Even If It’s Lonely”.
‘Even If It’s Lonely’ is an ode to platonic love, or as Hazlett calls it “warm love”. He elaborates further on this: “Not the kind with fireworks or the one bestselling novels are written about, but the kind you have with your closest friends. The kind that often guys don’t give to each other. Drifting along to the undertone of how much I miss that feeling from moving around so much.”
The new release opens with glistening, starry plucks of acoustic guitar appropriately filled out with ambient soundscapes and laying a foundation for the cautiously hushed tone of the Australian born artist. The over-thinking appears through the self-scrutiny scattered about the 4 minute delivery, most evident in standout lines such as “I wanted to be a little bit more/Someone you see who you adore”.
