Winnipeg’s Living Hour Announce New Album ‘Someday Is Today’; Share New Single “Feelings Meeting”
Based in Winnipeg, four piece Living Hour have always been motivated by the belief that their own music only gets more interesting when it includes other voices. For their new album, Someday Is Today, the band followed this vein of collaboration even further, calling upon friends and peers to bring the new albumès tracks to life. The result? The band’s third full-length effort and the much-anticipated follow-up to their 2019 Softer Faces LP.
With the album set for release on September 2nd, “Feelings Meeting” is the first glimpse into their new work and the collaborative style of the album. Featuring Jay Som (alias of Melina Duterte and one of the album’s producers), the single was written by band member Sam Sarty, who shares that “the song is about struggling with internal worlds, habits and daily circumstances.”
With a crashing chorus, Sarty says the track feels “powerful and loud,” with the first chorus driving “into my bones shaking them around and projecting the full feeling I was trying to get across in writing the song,” thanks to Duterte’s work on the track. Languid and heavy, the combination of airy vocals and the gritty guitar that ultimately drive the track creates an interesting pairing that grabs and holds your interest as the song unfolds. “Feeling Meeting” was released alongside a music video featuring the band performing the track under hazy blue lights, adding to the track’s overall atmosphere.
About working on the song, Duterte says, “I was so stoked on “Feelings Meeting” because it’s such a headbanger – it was more energetic and rocking than the material they’ve put out in the past. I had a lot of fun manipulating [Sarty’s] vocals into a synth and adding some extra harmonies and guitars.”
Living Hour is made up of founding members Gilad Carroll (Guitar/Vocals), Adam Soloway (Guitar/Vocals) and Sam Sarty (Bassist/Keyboardist/Vocalist), who’ve been writing together since 2014, and Brett Ticzon (Bass/Keys/Drums), who joined the band in 2018.
