Sacramento Singer-Songwriter Caregiver Reflects On Her Struggles With Addiction On Compelling New Single “Wash” From Upcoming Debut LP
Lindsey Bitson, the brain behind the Sacramento-based project Caregiver, has transposed her time reflecting on her hardships of her past into her compelling forthcoming debut album Bathing In Yesterday’s Fires.
Leading the way is the album’s first single “Wash”, a hazy and candid reflection on Bitson’s struggles with addiction.
“It exemplifies the pain, darkness, and discomfort associated with drug use,” Bitson explains. “It was written during a sort of rebirth through spirituality, sobriety, and contemplative meditation. The subject matter is pretty heavy, so I chose to pair the song with a whimsical and playful Anderson-esque drug trip. It was also one of the only songs on the album that didn’t sound completely sad and serious. I enjoyed the opportunity to have some fun with the visuals.”
Her ability to provide a welcoming demeanour and listening experience on a song of such introspective and difficult topics showcases the emerging artist’s personality and self-awareness; a welcomed combination that is elevated through her ear-pleasing vocal style and adventurous guitar parts.
