JUNO-Award Winning Folk Act The East Pointers Continue Forward After A Shocking Loss With New Single “Stronger Than You Know” From Upcoming EP
Ontario-via-Prince Edward Island JUNO-award winning folk group The East Pointers did their best to stay optimistic during the pandemic, after having their international touring cancelled by writing new music with friends. Their upcoming EP is a collection of music written during that time back home in PEI, and is nearly ready to be released into the world.
But as the group were putting finishing touches on the record, band member Koady Chaisson passed away from an unexpected heart aneurysm at the age of 37 on January 6th, 2022. A monumental component to the band’s success, the upcoming record will be his final musical contribution to the world. Koady’s journey of recovery from substance abuse had aligned perfectly with the road of The East Pointers over the course of the last eight years and he often credited the band with saving his life – a story that proved to inspire countless others who learned of his path to wellness.
Leading the way for the upcoming EP is “Stronger Than You Know”, a song written by Chaisson during a winter storm back in PEI. Using this song as a metaphor, the band encourages everyone to dig deep, “things can get tough, but you will get through it, you’re stronger than you know.”
The two remaining members, Koady’s cousin Tim Chaisson (vocals, fiddle, percussion) and Jake Charron (guitar, keyboards) are continuing to move forward, and “Stronger Than You Know” finds a new meaning with its anthemic and resilient energy.
