Norwegian R&B Pop Artist Sondrey Shares Moving New Single “For My People”

Since releasing his debut album Insomnia last year, Norwegian pop artist Sondrey has continued the momentum with his second single of 2022 “For My People”.

Finding a similar striking minimalism to The Weeknd, the new single is a moving and sociopolitically-driven song rooted in the BLM movement.

“‘For My People’ is a reaction to the the “I can’t breathe” and BLM movement that was in 2020 and is still going strong all over the world”, he explains. “I wanted to use my musical platform to take stand in the fight for equality and shine a light on those who paved the way before us. The video is inspired by Kenyan sounds, the “Black Panther movement” and Martin Luther King Jr.”.

Leaving metaphor to the wind, the song’s direct and cutting lyrics leave no stone unturned as Sondrey dives deep into the racial prejudices around the world, alongside a rap verse from Omar Noir.
