Fast-Rising Singer-Songwriter Caregiver Shares New Video For “Reason” From Debut LP ‘Bathing In Yesterday’s Fire’
Coinciding with the release of her stellar debut album Bathing In Yesterday’s Fire earlier this month, fast-rising singer-songwriter Lindsey Biston – better known as Caregiver – has shared the accompanying music video for her latest single “Reason”.
The Sacramento-based artist dives into difficult topics such as heartache, substance abuse, and self-discovery on her debut full-length, and for “Reason”, the former takes its turn in a truly commanding and moving fashion.
Caregiver’s latest “Reason” was inspired by a relationship that Bitson ended.
“I sabotaged a relationship to avoid being hurt,” she admits. “Such an ironic characteristic, self-sabotage. It creates the exact thing I fear. When we reconnected, it was as if he could see right through me. There was nothing left for us. If I hadn’t been so distant and destructive, maybe things could have worked out differently. We swung outside on hammocks on opposing sides of his porch and it felt like goodbye. That week I wrote ‘Reason’.”
With a similar commanding vocal presence to the likes of Phoebe Bridgers and Julian Baker, Caregiver uses her words and voice to strike a chord with her audience. Effortlessly slipping into an emotional ballad, “Reason” balances the teetering feelings of remorse and regret through the instrumentation’s fluctuating power.
Accompanying the song’s organic appeal is the short film style music video, which through twists and turns, transposes a failing relationship into a dreamy state.
