INTRODUCING: Australian Emo Rock Outfit Talk Heavy Regroup With Anthemic Debut Single “Hoping The Middle”
Over the last year, the founding members of Brisbane alt-pop group WALKEN decided to reset and come back as Talk Heavy. Comprised of Matt Cochran (Vocals/Guitar), Patrick Shipp (Guitar), Tayla Ellerby (Bass) and Beej Vaughan on drums, the new project has the band shifting into more emo-rock territory, exploring their love for band such as PUP, Cloud Nothings, and +44.
The four-piece have officially launched this new chapter with their debut single “Hoping the Middle”.
“‘Hoping The Middle’ is one of the more angsty songs of ours, but we felt it was the perfect representation of the band for our first release” explains Cochran.
With a steady diet of ’00s alt-rock and emo at its core, the new single is a lively and exciting look to the future of both the band and genre.
About the single, the group share: “The song is talking about detaching from reality and feeling almost emotionless in defeat – you’re not holding either the positive or negative too close to you, and you hope the middle ground of life is safe enough, but you’re still dreaming something better is coming along soon.”
While it may not be directly referencing Jimmy Eat World’s hit “The Middle”, fans of the classic will still find something to enjoy with this new track. Listen below:
