Dark Pop Act MATTE BLVCK Share Percussive New Single “Midnight & Angel”
Dark-pop trio MATTE BLVCK released their debut album I’m Waving, Not Drowning back in 2020, and have shared their first bit of new music since. Influenced by the likes of Phantogram, The Cult, Stone Temple Pilots, and Nine Inch Nails, their new single “Midnight & Angel” is a commanding and post-apocalyptic offering that explores new territory for the band.
Incorporating hypnotic percussion and rhythmic textures, the new single is cinematically lush courtesy of pulsating synthesizer and industrial tones. As bandmember Alex Gonzales details:
“A song birthed from drums and percussions. It’s a rare occasion that I walk into the studio with the arrangement in mind, it feels as if the song was already stored in my subconscious. We breezed right through this song; you can hear it if you begin to peel the layers off. “Midnight & Angel” couldn’t have come at a better time, we were all facing adversity in our lives“.
