Montreal Alt-Rocker ALIAS Announces Debut Album ‘Jozef’ Alongside New Single “Fantasy”
Following the two previous singles “Together” and “Shine”, Montreal-based multi-instrumentalist ALIAS has shared a third single and the announcement of his debut album, Jozef. “Fantasy” features rock duo Les Deuxluxes and is released alongside an accompanying music video.
Quick drums and fuzzed-out guitars back ALIAS as he delivers a staccato, breathless performance, with the addition of Les Deuxluxes’s vocals blending everything together as a sort of anchor on the chorus. As the lyrics speak to questionable realities, the video rotates through the performers – literally having them spinning across the screen – as colours flash, occasionally punctuated by lips and eyes. The video matches the slightly off-kilter feeling of the track itself, and keeps true to ALIAS’ more out of the box, experimental approach to music.
On the track, ALIAS explains, ““Fantasy” digs deeper into the psyche of my musical alter ego, Jozef. Stuck in a padded room he is trying to escape, Jozef is a prisoner in his own madness. “I left my body in the padded room / But my mind is breaking through.” “Fantasy” embarks on a ghost train, propelling the listener through a rock and roll vortex as the vocals join forces with the guitars’ fuzz, and percussion runs riot.”
Jozef will be released on September 28th via Simone Records.
