Indie Rock Outfit Drook Drop Double Single Release “She / Soap” From Upcoming EP ‘Life In Estates’

With their upcoming sophomore EP Life In Estates on the way, Richmond, Virginia indie rock four-piece Drook have dropped two phenomenal new singles as a teaser. The one-worded alliterations “She” and “Soap” showcase the group’s well-rounded and gritty indie rock style lead by frontwoman Liza Grishaeva.

Opening with “She”, the anthemic indie rock tune is “character study” of sorts, written from the perspective of a girl who lets poor self-control and coping mechanisms lead her life. Incorporating alt-rock elements of The Joy Formidable and shoegazey hints of Cloud Nothings, Drook really find their stride on the front half of the double release.

Switching to the second single “Soap”, Grishaeva provides a personal look into heartbreak and the end of a relationship. The washed out reverb on the guitars mirror her quiet vocal performance, finding its strength in the emotion that flows from her lyrics.
