Swedish Post Punk Group Alpha Pet Nod To Their UK Predecessors On New Single “TV Personality”
Despite hailing from Stockholm, Swedish post-punk group Alpha Pet manage to create a sound emulating the classic sounds of the UK ’80s music scene. Melodic guitars team up with accented vocals for the band’s third single “TV Personality”.
With a brash, dark perspective on the current social climate, the post-punk single is a raunchy and melancholic dig at the mainstream’s priorities. Still, the band’s hook-driven guitar parts find a comforting feel with its major chords and bouncing rhythm.
About the single, he band’s vocalist Rocky Åberg shares, ”It’s not really a shock is it? Finding out that the faces you see on TV aren’t the faces of saints. It shouldn’t be. Still, that’s the reaction every time some new shit gets dug up. We just got tired of that whole circus and had to get it out some way. Luckily for you it turned into a song with a pretty good chorus. Hopefully it will make us super famous so that we can experience this ‘corruptive power of fame’, the lonely feeling of being in the spotlight and the ‘complete darkness’ getting a full month’s pay for smiling into a camera for 38 minutes. That’s some rough shit.”
