Tearing Up Unveils Final Piece From New EP ‘Billy Is Dead’ With “Monarch”
Graham Caldwell has officially said farewell to his former moniker Billy Moon with his latest chapter as Tearing Up. Marking the next chapter, Caldwell is releasing his new EP Billy Is Dead tomorrow, and has shared the final piece “Monarch”.
Incorporating elements of post-punk, hazy NYC indie rock, and retro-fitted psych-pop, the new single offers a place of reflection and escape.
“This song makes me think of being in Greece, specifically Mykonos where all the buildings are painted white to reflect the heat of the sun”, Graham shares. “I spent a lot of time on that vacation just going for long walks through the streets of all the different places. I would just go somewhere and keep walking until I got tired.
I’m a wanderer at heart, or rather, I have ADHD. This makes it kind of hard to make plans for things, since I usually end up so distracted that I end up going with the flow with whatever’s around me. It’s not always easy, but some days… it’s alright. Some days you feel lost, but others you can see the path you’re on. On the days that I try my best to stay on it, it usually takes me in the right direction.”
On top of his music career, Graham also recently directed the latest video for Zoon’s Giizhig released as part of A Sterling Murmuration EP, showcasing the visual, graphic and animation skills he houses under his creative arts hub, YammaNamma.
