Winnipeg Indie Art Rock Act Yes We Mystic Dazzle With New Single “Head Rush”
With their latest and final album Trust Fall set for release on October 21st via Devil Duck Records, Winnipeg indie art rock group Yes We Mystic have shared the dominating hit single “Head Rush”.
Since forming back in high school, Yes We Mystic have grown over the last decade to become a Canadian favourite, and the five members have decided to go their separate ways – but not without unleashing this final collection of songs into the world.
Going out with a bang, “Head Rush” is the final teaser from the upcoming album, and is a towering and expansive indie rock tune. Emotions stir with the cluster of instruments, finding its strength on the invigorating and catchy chorus.
“Musically, it includes a lot of familiar sounds for us — driving off-kilter rhythms, soaring strings, spindly guitars, and robust bass synth, this time coupled with something brand new to us—a saxophone solo“, explains Yes We Mystic songwriter/vocalist/producer Adam Fuhr, “The verses are clusters of disparate images, which act as a type of Rorschach test — any paths, associations or connections made between them are those of the listener, not of the band.”
In addition to the band’s singles “Long Dream” and “Sit Down” released earlier this year, Yes We Mystic launched an interactive toll-free choose-your-own-adventure style phone line in support of the upcoming album. The hotline has been called hundreds of times from locations all over the world since its launch in August 2022. One can reach the toll-free hotline by calling 1 (877) 347-5231.
On October 17, the band will premiere their 17-minute concert film Showroom at a sold-out screening at Winnipeg’s beloved Cinematheque theatre. Showroom documents the last time the band gathered, in secret, to perform, joined by past members Solana Johannson and Eric Ross for a once-in-a-lifetime-grouping. The event will also feature a listening party for the album Trust Fall, and a retrospective screening of the band’s interconnected world of music videos, which they began releasing in 2016. Winnipeg band Virgo Rising will open the night. The event sold out in under two hours.
