Singer-Songwriter SYML Returns With New Single “Believer” From Upcoming LP ‘The Day My Father Died’

Seattle-based singer-songwriter Brian Fennell, better known as SYML, has shared his new single and video “Believer”, lifted from his upcoming album The Day My Father Died, set for release on February 3rd via Nettwerk.

A brooding love song, the new single balances romance with bright melody, as he gives a refreshed meaning to what it means to worship and believe.

“To be a believer in something is as pure as it gets,” says Fennell. “For me, it’s when I realized it was never a god or magical ghost, but my lover and how I fell at her feet.”

As for the upcoming album, The Day My Father Died follows Fennell’s journey through healing and growth after the loss of his adoptive father. “The ever-expanding universe will always frighten and delight me, but the truly unbelievable shit happens down here at our human level,” Fennell says. “Losing my dad felt like running out of air. I still feel it in my gut. But this record is not about losing him, it’s about what happens after we have lost.”

Filled with hope and optimism, “Believer” celebrates the support from a loved one and the willingness to be happy.
