Chicago Indie Rock Duo OK Cool Announce New EP ‘fawn’ With Lead Single “normal-c”
Chicago-based indie rock duo OK Cool, comprised of friends Bridget Stiebris and Haley Blomquist, have announced their new EP fawn is set for release on April 28th via their own label Take A Hike Records. From the 8-track collection is their lead single “normal-c”.
A hook-driven release that pulls from math-rock, shoegaze, and a few remnants ’80s-psych rock, “normal-c” delves into the feelings that come with social anxiety. “I wrote this song about the heaviness I sometimes feel about being out in public, and the eventual conclusion that sometimes I can just accept that feeling without digging into the underlying meaning, or feeling like it’s something that needs fixing,” explains Stiebris.
Accompanying the single is the vintage horror-inspired music video directed by Justin Sheehan & Brian Garbrecht of Roadhouse Productions.
Directors Sheehan and Garbrecht explain the video: “A chance encounter with a house show flier sends Bridget and Haley to a mysterious manor, where they find familiar foes and something more sinister. Armed with a Polaroid camera and a secret weapon, OK Cool puts on a house show for the ages.”
