Folk Singer-Songwriter Cooper Wolken Shares Both Sides Of A Break-Up On Haunting New Single “How”
Raised in rural Masachussetts, indie folk singer-songwriter Cooper Wolken spent teaching himself music and wondering through the woods. Always curious about the balance of nature, and life & death, Wolken has allowed himself over the years to remain contemplative and present with his surroundings. “All that time out in the woods, I was really close to the processes of the forest, seeing the way life interacts with itself, as well as with death and decay,” he says. “It was an intimate way of understanding the world, and finding the beauty even in all of the darkness.”
Naturally, his poignant perspective and heartfelt view of the world has inspired his music. Now based in Los Angeles with a specialization in jazz percussion, the emerging singer-songwriter has returned to his thoughtful roots and is set to release his solo debut album Chapters on June 9th via Earth Libraries.
From the release is his expressive new single “How”; a haunting and delicate release that splits heartbreak and a break-up into two sides. Bouncing between both perspectives on the end of a relationship, the song’s neo-folk instrumentation and lush qualities accompany Wolken’s vibrant falsetto that rolls over top.
