Toronto Post-Punk Trio Life In Vacuum Share New Single “Hugo”

Ukrainian-Canadian brothers Ross and Sasha Chornyy have been making music together for over a decade, launching their joint mucial journey after coming to Canada in 2004. Their latest album Lost was released last week, and the pair continue to evolve their post-punk sound. Since bringing along bassist Geoff Albrecht into the mix, the band’s gritty style has found a groovier, more rhythmic approach, while still being influenced by the likes of At The Drive-In, The Mars Volta, and Refused.

“We’re very rigid, my bother and I, so it was good to have a new voice in the fold,” Sasha admits. “It’s not so much a new sound as a new dynamic; the chemistry really works.

Their latest single “Hugo” holds onto the punchy, guitar-driven style of post-hardcore and punk, with Sasha’s sturdy vocals charging overtop.
