INTRODUCING: Indie Folk Pop Act Bird Cage Theatre Share Debut Single “The City Screams Us”
UK indie folk pop group Bird Cage Theatre, comprised of vocalist/guitarist Chris Molloy, guitarist Marc Kean, and drummer Simon Usher, have shared their debut single “The City Screams Us”. A song about reflecting on the past and the late nights of yesterday, the track draws inspiration from Dermot Kennedy, Ben Howard, and Rob Thomas with its anthemic and triumphant chorus and personal lyricism.
Frontman Chris Molloy spent his youth growing up in Glasgow, and the song looks back at his time exploring the nightlife. “In my late teens and early twenties, I was always drawn to Glasgow for the nightlife; the gigs, bars and clubs were unlike anything offered in my hometown of Newmains”, he shares. “I spent many nights in the city, some good, some bad, but always memorable. After reconnecting with an old friend last year, we reminisced about our past and it awoke a whole load of emotions which I wanted to capture musically.
