Brooklyn Noise-Pop Trio A Very Special Episode Share Ode To DIY Scene With Latest Single “$5 Cover”

Brooklyn-based noise-pop trio A Very Special Episode are gearing up to release their new album Freak Me Out on June 23rd via Hidden Home/EWEL Records. From the release is their latest single “$5 Cover”, and its colourful new music video.

Boasting a catchy, fiery hook, the new track is an ode to their local DIY scene, providing an electrifying energy and unwavering intensity that can only be found in the dark, underground mosh pits of NYC.

Reflecting on the live power of the track, A Very Special Episode’s drummer Chayse Schutter says, “This is a really fun and weird one to perform live, with Patrick playing the bass through both bass and guitar amps and Kasey free to dance around the space untethered to an instrument. Because of that, it’s become a favorite of ours to either open or close sets with; we’re either starting or ending strong with it.”

Its accompanying music video flips the script and brings the band to the stuffy, ’60s middle American living room as the band contrast the song’s raging power with a stiff, mannequin-esque performance for their dinner guests.
