New York Singer-Songwriter Elliot Moss Unveils New Video For “Lazy”
New York-based singer-songwriter & producer Elliot Moss returned releasing original music back in April with the single “Altitude” after almost three years. Continuing his momentum, Moss has shared his new single “Lazy” and its accompanying dystopian music video.
Known for bridging together subtle electronica into his singer-songwriter style, “Lazy” further holds onto his futuristic style. With vocal effects spread overtop, the minimalistic production of synthesizers and drums provide a digital foundation for Moss’ soft voice to do some deep introspection.
“The lyrics are listing the ways I distract myself from the reasons for my uncertainties or failures—which can be uncomfortable to admit, so it made sense for the instrumentation to take on that same uneasiness“, he shares.
Accompanying the single release is the Moss-directed music video which takes on a futuristic and dystopian quality. The theme of confronting traumatic experiences plays out onscreen with electrifying visuals.
“‘Lazy’ explores how individuals often resort to avoidance and externalization when faced with emotional pain,” explains Moss. “The artificial hand mirrors the ‘rubber hand experiment’ and its illustration of misattributing sensations to external objects. ‘Lazy’ underscores the significance of confronting past experiences for genuine personal development and healing, and the self-deception inherent in inventing ways to ignore them.”
Dark undertones and melancholic shots help solidify the song’s message.
