Swiss Singer-Songwriter Mary Middlefield Unveils New Video For “This One’s For You”; Announces Upcoming Album ‘Thank You, Alexander’

Swiss singer-songwriter Mary Middlefield has announced her new album Thank You, Alexander will be out March 3rd. Alongside the news, the classically trained indie pop artist has shared her upbeat new single “This One’s For You”, an ode to the clumsy truth of a budding romance.

About the song, Mary shares, “It was a pleasure working with the same crew of musicians throughout the project, and we had a lot of fun improvising throughout the process of making TOFY. As a child, we feel like we have to subscribe to certain stories we might come across in books or films and I wanted the track to mark a sarcastic tone to the traditional fairy tale, princess storylines we are fed.”

Filled with personal touches and dynamic instrumentation, “This One’s For You” has Mary looking forward to the moment of meeting “her soul mate”. Adding to the nostalgic, coming of age feel of the oddly romantic track, the accompanying music video directed by Imogen Harrison, playfully looks at the feeling of falling out of love with the wrong person.
