Ottawa-based experimental rock group Wood Lake blend together elements of folk, alternative, shoegaze, metal, and post-hardcore into an introspective, dense sound. With the upcoming release of their latest record Hell coming up on April 22nd, Wood Lake have added to their previously shared single “Easy Love” with the latest effort “Hollow”.
Showing a diversity in their sound, “Hollow” moves away from the soft-spoken, net-folk sound of their previous track, and into a darker corner of their music with elements of shoegaze, doom, and alternative.
Shot in an abandoned ruin in Gatineau park (just outside Ottawa), the music video for “Hollow” regresses to the age of lo-fi, VHS quality tapes and captures the crisp feeling of the winter months.
Check it out below, and head to their bandcamp for more music.
